IE and Vista

Hi

A complete novice here, I've noticed alot of threads warning about the evils of IE is there still the same problems with it working on vista? Should I install a different browser?:confused

Hi!

A friend of mine recently bought a new computer with Vista installed on it. They're on dial up, and actually found the IE faster than FireFox. I believe that they've installed a Netscape Accelorator (?).

No IE in Vista is just as safe as other browsers as it now has no admin rights ( Proctected mode ) to install any application of software directly unless as the user you allow it to, this is same for other supposedly safe browsers, what I will say and without getting too over the top is that while Firefox and Opera dont have ActiveX potential exploits of IE, they DO NOT cater for the user and what websites and downloads they will surf for.

IE7 in Vista is much more secure than previous IEs and IE7 for XP, but again as always you have a choice if you like Firefox then use it over IE.

The browser is just one small part of your overall PC security, its the other security programs you install too that add up to the major security of your PC.

I bought a notebook PC (Windows Vista) about 3 months ago. I've been using IE with it and see no reason not to use IE, other than your personal preference for another browser if that's the case.
