Ok, I at one time had 3 different browsers working :Firefox, IE, and CrazyBrowser. Now out of no where all of them stopped working, but CrazyBrowser. So I uninstalled it thinking it might be conflicting the other two, but that was not the case, and now I cannot connect to the internet through my desktop, The laptops in the house are working fine. what is the problem, is it a program? If you need more info ask.

    Thank You.

Information like Operating system, version of IE, how you connect (dialup or broadband). If broadband, is it dsl or cable? Brand and model of modem, brand and model of router, firewall in use

windows xp home, internet explorer 7 I think, I connect through a router which is cable. and the router is a motorola sbg940. firewall was in use, but I disabled it, and still had problems.

Maybe check to see if the network adapter is disabled? Right Click the network status icon in your taskbar (by the clock on the lower right) and select repair. I would be interested to see what results this produces.

well now ive ran into more problems...My dad did something to the computer that made it stay in safe mode, even when I told the computer to boot normal, so I repaired it by useing a back recovery disc, but only reparied so my father wouldnt loose all his saved items..
now I can connect to yahoo messenger, but still nothing with a browser. I am on the router also wirelessly with my laptop, and its doing fine. So im not sure, any ideas now?

Open Device Manager and check to see that there are no yellow !s or red Xs by the network adapter. If you are wired, try another ethernet cable and another port on the modem/router. Cables and ports can go bad. If neither of those changes anything, I'd uninstall IE 7 because sometimes that causes problems.
Do you get the normal 404 error when you try IE 7 and FF?

yes, it was the normal 404, I did look up to see if the device had any errors on the device manager which it didnt, but I dont think it was there either, so its a little weird, I can connect through messenger, no browser, but yet now the router is not installed? Im going to try to find the install cd again, and redue it, but I doubt I can find it..and motorola.com doesnt have drives/install anyhow. crap. :(

You don't need to install the router. My computers use it without anything installed. Do you know the access code to look at the settings? It is something similar to 192.168.1.1 When you type this in the address bar, you can access the settings.

    Do this:
    start/run and type in command
in the box that comes up type in ip /release <enter>
wait for about 1/2 minute the type in ip /renew <enter>
the modem/router should have assigned your computer an ip address

Yes, I do know the password and all of that, matter of fact I looked there already and it says that his computer has an ip, should I reassign one?

If you can't connect with the assigned IP then yes I would release and renew.
Also check your firewall settings just to be sure you are not blocked from accessing the internet.
