IE keeps Crashing. getting standard Microsoft warning "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". Been happening for past few days, getting worse.

I noticed it happens in alot of forums, but not only forums. If I have more than one window open, sometimes it shuts them all down and sometimes only one. I can't get anything done. Major Geeks was only shut down once, now it seems ok. ?????????????

I ran CClener, CWshredder, scanned for sypware, ads, malicious software, and viruses. I reset IE Web Settings.

Other threads describe the same thing lately, but haven't helped me yet.

I was doing Ebay Earlier and had no problem. Then I did some searches and tried to read some forums then, bam, she crashes. But MGeeks seems to be letting me stay here with no problem.

As always, any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Personally I think their is something going wrong in general Windows XP! I was getting a memory error and IE had to crash while I was put on hold... so I changed over to Firefox after being recommended by other geeks, and I went to play Devil May Cry 3 SE, but it kept dropping out, I CTRL + ALT + DEL and found out that Firefox.exe was still active.. had to kill it manually, that also happened with something else yesterday, just cant remember what, riddick I think...

These strange things are Windows Update, and after for me if my memory is correct, I don't remember having so many problems before then....

Yep, I see alot of peeps with this and XP, but I forgot to mention I'm using 2000 and it seems to be related to this "ModName: ntdll.dll".

Or maybe this thread isn't done...there's a known problem with the last Windows update that causes IE to crash repeatedly on sites that use compression. You can either call MS support for a hotfix, or wait until around the 22nd of this month for them to have a fix available for download.

Providing a link to an alternate browser does not address the issue at hand. Post actual advice, addressing the problem, or don't post all.

The OP figured out what the problem was and it is rectified. So, no need for irrelevant posts.
