    Hello,

Im running win XP SP2 with IE 6.0. When I click the desktop icon that is placed on the desktop form Properties, Desktop, Customize, Desktop Icon, I get a shortcut that appears on the desktop for IE that does not function. Each time I click the IE icon a new shortcut appears. If I create an shortcut and point to Iexplore.exe then it works. Not sure why the default icon does not work. I suspect the registry is damaged somewhere but I do not know where to go to fix this issue. I had a lot of problems with my pc so I ran Registry Mechanic and Error Sweeper and most of the problems went away. This minor annoying problem however persists. Anybody know how to fix this other than making an new shortcut on the desktop?

    Hello,

Tweak UI did not resolve the problem. I suspect a registry error.

If you suspect problems with the registry after using a cleaner/repair tool look and see if it (Registry Mechanic and Error Sweeper) offer a "go back" or "undo" feature.

    OR

Try a restore point before using them.
