WinXP Pro SP2, IE6. This is a Dell laptop, Inspiron 6000. It surfs the internet more or less OK but whenever an IE window is closed, the "Internet Explorer has encountered an error...." window pops up and I can select Send or Don't Send the error report. Sending it doesn't do anything to help. This same thing happens if I click a link on a web page and the new window opens for the link, when I click on the red 'X' to close it, the error pops up and behind the error an "about:blank" window opens. Then when I close out the last IE window and return to the desktop, I get the above error and when that closes, I get error message that I have attached below. I've run malware scans and there was nothing found except some tracking cookies. I've run Dial A Fix and IEFix. Web surfing is now much more stable after running those two little 'fix-it' tools. I just finished a safe OS reload, and still the same error(s)... any help in repairing this will be greatly appreciated.... I really don't want to have to reformat....
    THANX!

Reported error is in base memory. Have you substituted the RAM?

:( No dice. Swapped out the RAM with 2 different known good sticks; tried both RAM slots too.... same exact problem. When IE is closed, a blank white window opens with the title "about:blank". It closes almost right away and is followed by the error reporting window, and that's followed by the error I attached in the first post.... time is short, so I think I'll have to reformat. I already saved all the docs/music/pics/etc....

    Thanx anyway!

If it genuinely cant read that memory address with new sticks and reformat then there is a hardware fault on a memory line or memory control chip. Perhaps a dirt bridge?
