    Hello.

I've browsed through the forum but haven't found a solution.
My internet cable connection is working (I've checked with the provider) and in any case I can use outlook and open internet links in emails. The problem seems to be IE: it freezes on "connecting" and I've to use task manager, repair the connection, etc.
It doesn't do it all the time, it sometimes opens just fine, but frequently I need several attemps to open it.
I use ESET antivirus and have done an in-depth scan. It hasn't detected anything. I've checked the cables and they seem ok.
The Microsoft error report says the problem is linked to IE.
Someone on this website had a similar problem and solved it but stopped short of providing the solution.
I've exhausted my own (thin) knowledge. Can you help? :(

Oops. Your question nearly got away. Saw it because it was next to mine which is also getting away. :)

You may have a corruption in IE software. Microsoft has some help for this if you have Windows XP. There are various alternatives.Go to:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378

(Copy it and paste it into teh address bar. Also copy and paste when instructions tell you to type stuff)

I haven't looked to see what there is if you don't have XP. Post what you do have if you need more help.

And I almost missed your answer. Thanks for the advice. I'll try it because what I've tried so far doesn't work in the long term. I thought I'd found a solution but it starting again. Yes, I've XP.
I'll keep you posted about my progress.

It looks as if it's working. Let me give it a couple of days and get back to you to make sure. Thanks!:)

It's still working. Thank you for your help. :celebrate
I had found that solution on the net but, not being a computer geek, I tend to drag my feet at uninstalling/ reinstalling anything for fear I'll wipe out everything.
    Thanks again!
