    Hi Everyone,

First time poster here -- I have logged into MajorGeeks many times before to snag some freeware here and there, but I'm really in need of some guidance regarding Internet Explorer and hope someone can help.

Here's the situation, wife isn't very computer smart, but she has figured out a way to erase her 'tracks' on the Internet -- but just under her XP login. I have gone ahead and moved the TEMP folder to another folder to view her HTML graphics, etc so I can view them, but I have no idea the sites she is visiting to get there! Yep, I'm being nosey, but I have every right to be...

We have XP, so I went into the Properties of IE and made sure the Delete History box was unchecked in the Security tab -- and it is.

I've run several 'tests' under her login and XP saves everything (as it should) whenever I log in under her profile. When I delete the files under her profile, XP deletes the history files for both my profile and hers -- just as XP should.

The strange part is, after she's done using the computer (late at night) I go to check the history and can only see where my tracks left off, none of hers. Strange...Also, there is no new software on our computer.

I believe whatever she does is XP-related and not associated with the Explorer. Anyone have any ideas? Workarounds?

    Thanks
    Mike

Short of installing software, and even then, if the person is savvy enough there isn't a great deal you can do without her being aware. (and you don't have to justify why you want this, it's no ones business but yours)

You can try viewing Index.dat files in Notepad, but it doesn't always work.

What does, if you are the account holder, is see if your ISP can provide you with a log? (going via proxy servers make it more difficult, but not impossible)

You know, I have seen that log pop up. Maybe I should just C&P it into an Excel spreadsheet and see if I can view it from there? My ISP doesn't have the capability to provide me a detailed view.

Thanks for the speedy reply from Australia!

Some cleaning programs can delete the contents of index.dat, but not many.

We have Index.dat Suite which might suit your needs.

Worth a try and freeware, but as I said, it depends how savvy and cunning she is.
