IE% History Folder

    This is a plea for help from a friend on a different site. I seem to have heard this before , but cannot find anything about it now, so if I am repeating an old question , could someone point me in the right direction, please? TIA

    Query:-
    Since I added SP2 to my computer when starting up I get this message "Confirm Folder Delete", it goes on:- Are you sure you want to remove the folder "History,IE5 and move all its contents to the recycle bin? I have removed the folder ok but still get the message upon start up and would very much like to remove it, any ideas anyone?

    Harry... do they have any file/cache cleaning apps installed?, I have one called East-Tec Eraser which allows me to erase the locked system files at reboot.. it puts a temp line in the registry run hive to tell the program to erase the files before the system locks them at bootup, other programs like CrapCleaner do similar.

    what I would do is to check the registrys run hives to see if their is anything set to run at boot an easy program to do this with is http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=460 RegCleaner

    install the app and run it then click the Startup tab and look in their for something under the Filename section that has the IE5 temp folder listed.. if it does tick the box next to it and click remove selected.

    Thanks Halo, will pass that info along. Would cleaning out the index.dat files have the same effect, or would that just clear the files but leave the warning message intact?

    I would add that on and clear the index.dats aswell as they do hold info on sites visited so that cannot hurt BUT I suspect that some app is trying to clear the temp internet files and this is stuck in the registry run hives.
