As mentioned above, the default url icon in the address bar is missing. See attached picture.

I already tried to repair IE according to microsoft instructions with no results.

I also did this: "Open Control Panel and click on Folder Options. Select the File Types tab. Select HTMl and click on Advanced. At the top should be an option to change the icon. Make sure it has the IE logo. If not click change and locate the icon." Did not help.

    Any other suggestions?

    See if this works:

    1. Close all instances of Internet Explorer except one.

    2. Right-click on the top Toolbar, uncheck: "Lock the Toolbars"

    3. Place the cursor over the "Address" button and click (hold down)

    4. It will change to a 4-way arrow, move or expand the Address Bar to desired location.

    5. Right-click on the top Toolbar, check: "Lock the Toolbars"

    6. Hold down the Ctrl key and close Internet Explorer.

    AND/OR

    1. In Internet Explorer Menu: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab

    2. Scroll down half way to: Search from the address bar...

    3. When searching.... select a mode. Click Apply.

    Hi Steve:

No this did not work. The problem is not one of what is visible in the address part. The problem is that IE does not want to display the small E blue icon, on the left of http:// It displays a generic icon as shown on the picture I have attached to my posting.
