IE keeps crashing

HI and Welcome

You are going to have to give us more info to go on and some questions off the top of my head are....

1. Is your Vista fully upto date with SP1 and all critical updates?

2. Have you run malware checks on your PC to see if your infected?

3. Have you tried another browser if its IE restarting every 3-4hrs to see if it does the same? Firefox is good to try.

3. When IE crashes, does your PC restart or just IE stops, are their any error messages on screen at that time? also check Event Viewer for any errors from around the time of the crash ( just click Start and type into the Start Search box event viewer and hit enter ) then look in Windows Logs and both Application and System logs for messages at time of crash and tell us what they say.

4. Run IE in its safe mode to check to see if one of your add-ons (Flash, Java, any toolbars ) are causing this, click Start and in Start Search Box type Internet and then from the list click Internet Explorer (no-addons) and see if IE crashes.

If it doesnt crash then uninstall all toolbars ( ie. Google etc ) and update your Adobe Flash Player, Shockwave Player and Java ( but uninstall all old Java versions from Add/Remove ).



Do each one of the above one step at a time, as one step may hold the clue, then we can continue with other options.

 

So is it still crashing every 3~4hrs? if it is then
does the Event Logs hold any clues for errors at the times of the crashes, also in Control Panel > System and Maintenence are their any references to a crashed application at the exact time of these restarts in Problem Reports and Solutions?

Did you do all of the steps I mentioned?

Is your Vista upto date with all current updates?
