I have a toshiba laptop with vista and IE 8. Everytime I open IE, I get an error message "internet explorer has stopped working. A problem has caused to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" This message occurs mostly when you open or close IE8. It doesn't hinder surfing the web. It is more annoying than anything else. Is there a solution to get rid of it?

    Thanks,
    Wayne:confused

    HI!!
I am not the expert of software though I have some knowledge and happy to share.
Try to remember on which day it was working good and check the restore point if available.
Another option is to reinstall IE8.
I never used the IE8, I am using Firrefox3.0 and happy with it.
Try with some other browser they are better then the IE.
There are many browsers some mostly used are Netscape, Opera, Chrome and many more.

I have the same problem with IE8 and have never found a solution. The weirdest thing though, is that it ONLY occurs when I am using my Yahoo email!!! (It never happens in any other on-line site.)

Fortunately, the error message always occurs as I'm closing my IE8 session, and not at the beginning. In any event, wayne45 is right, in that the error message doesn't interfere with using IE8, it's just annoying. I've tried uninstalling IE8 and reinstalling it --- didn't help. The problem was occuring before I had any plug-ins, so plug-ins don't seem to be causing the problem. Any other suggestions. I LOVE IE8 and don't want to use other browsers, but it would be nice to get rid of this error message.

I have solved the problem. Many thanks to those who helped me.
In case you are wondering, I decided to try one more time to remove IE8 and that did the trick. I guess I will be content with IE7.

    Thanks again:)

Sorry to hear that you had to resort to deleting IE8 wayne, but maybe we'll both have better luck with IE9!
