OK ! I'm losing My mind over this one. My gf installed an expired version of nortons anti virus on her pc & when she removed it she could no longer use IE or her messengers. I have tried everything I know. From going through each & every setting on the tool menu to uninstalling the firewall & nothing helps. She is currently on Dialup & switched from net zero to earthlink. But the tech heads @ earthlink don't seem to be any help. If anyone can suggest anything @ all that I might be overlooking it would be greatly appreciated. Ohh & please excuse any grammer errors I may have typed. I'm in a bit of a hurry since I am @ work. Thanks guys. wingnut44271

Which version of Norton's did she install? There are several removal tools available but we need to know which Norton product she used and the Operating System, is it XP?

Sorry about that. When I wrote that I was at work & had to hurry. She is running WinXP Pro with Service pack 2. The version of the anti virus was a trial version that came with the motherboard. I assume it's 2003 or 2004. I have no Idea why she installed the anti virus I gave her a 2004 version & it expired. I assume she uninstalled it but she never said.

Everything was running fine till she installed & uninstalled it. Then she started getting the Page cannot be displayed screen. We tried all the suggestions on the screen, but to no avail. I am truly stumped over this one. Her computer is connected to the internet through Dial up.

Any help you guys could give on this would be greatly appreciated. Because she's about to drive me nuts trying to fix it & thats no easy task on the phone.

    Thanks again: wingnut ;)

Have her look in Add/Remove in the Control Panel and see if Norton's is listed there, if it is have her uninstall from there and see if it solves the problem.

If that doesn't help, and l'm assuming it's NAV 2004 she has installed, have her use the Norton Removal Tool (SymNRT) here, http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4749
