IE problems

When I try and open IE i get the message The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005), click on ok to terminate the application.

I've found a way round this where I open my computer etc. and type the address in the address bar.

Any link to a website however only works if i copy the link into the address bar.

I have read the other threads on this topic to no avail.

I completed the thing saying do this before asking for help so now im asking for help!

No it was a simple clean-up and virus check list which i followed.

Well as for specs Im not too sure, being far from geek status, and far from my dad to ask him!

Im running windows 2000 professional.

Anything else you need to know I'l tell you, (but be specific 'cos computers are not my speciality)

It amazes me that Micro$$oft doesn't list it, at least easily accessible.

 

Hey thanks guys, why did this happen in the first place, due to a virus?

Cos the clean-up tests did get rid of some things.

Only thing i noticed was that both me and the link u sent me to involved dell computers.

But thanks, geeks rule.

 

It's caused by a corrupt Registry entry, usually by an in/uninstalled program.

It has nothing to do whether or not the PC's are Dell.
