    While searching in the help menu in excel and the regular "windows help" and clicking on links within the help file I am getting "an error has occurred in the script on this page" message.

    I have searched and searched for resolution and everything I have found did not help. I have reinstalled the browser, installed MS scripting 5.6, disabled smooth scrolling, logged in with a different profile, followed MS knowledge base article 308260, disabled script debugging in IE, cleared the display notification after every script error in IE, upgraded to IE 6.0 from 5.5, reinstalled office XP, installed the most recent version of direct x 9.0, changed the screen resolution, and none of these solutions have remedied my issue in Win2k. This pc currently has SP3 installed. SP4 is not approved as of yet in my organization. Is my only option left to reimage?? Should I reinstall Symantec Antivirus. We have the corporate edition installed on every pc in our domain and all of the other pc's work fine. Please help.

    Thank you.

    once you got IE6, did you revisit windows update to make sure you got any additional IE patches?

    I downloaded IE6 SP1. All of our patches our pushed out automatically through our altiris server. The PC is up to date in that regard.

    Additionally all temp and temporary internet files have been deleted. Also the most current version of Java has been installed.

    check your local intranet zone security to see if you have scripting enabled.

    I selected the default settings for the intranet and internet in the security settings. That automatically enables active scripting.

    what is the URL or FILE that the script error points to when it prompts.

    One URL in the MS help while searching to add a local printer and then clicking on printer. Yes I know how to do this but a customer did not and came across the this IE scripting error. The URL is mk:mad:MSITStore:C:\WINNT\Help\printing.chm::/EXEC=,control.exe,%20printers%20CHM=ntshared.chm%20FILE=alt_url_windows_component.htm

    The URL within Excel while search under date and then double clicking on date worksheet function and then clicking on "see also" is

    javascript:hhobj_1.Click()

    It brings up the message "an error has occurred in the script on this page"
