Hi, I'm new hear and also Dutch, so forgive me for my bad spelling and gramatically incorrect sentences. I do not do it on purpose offcourse.

After I followed the basic tutorial before posting my hijackthis-log I noticed that IE didn't work properly anymore. On some pages it just stops loading, on others (all of them) javascripts don't work anymore while in my internet-tools active scripting and applets are enabled.

    Do you understand...!?

Another little question, everybody seems to have MSN-viruses... I see the sentence 'do you want to be an MSN-hacker too then' etc. very often in conversations. Now I am worried to get affected too.

The spyware I got on my computer (it was really a lot and most of it was gone allready using spywaredoctor, ad-aware SE and spybot s&d) when I was 'defragmenteren' (don't know the English word...) and frogot to shut down my internet-connections. A programme (probably the one wich I downloaded when somebody sent me a link to a page and I accepted downloading 'handcuffs.piff' I did so while it was a friend of mine. After downloading it sent the same link to all my online contacts and shutted down MSN) well.. that programme I guess set all the ports open and when I woke op the other morning it was full of spyware. Really thirty or fourty programmes... (that moment I hadn't got a firewall) now I've got Zonelab.

And a third... This is what I get when I open the add/remove software tool...

    Pimbond,

Check the settings in your Zonelab firewall. Look for options that might block spam, ads, pop-ups, etc. Disable those and ad-aware SE see if it helps.

It seems impossible to me that it is that what I cope with. Because when I did the tutorial Zonelab was shutted down (so nog changes could have been made without me noticing)

plus: Ad-aware SE is not enabled. It is shutted down allways... is that enough!?

Still, check the settings in the firewall program. It's very possible there is a setting or feature enabled that is blocking you.

    Don't worry about ad-aware if it's disabled.

I cannot find any option that blocks spam, ads, pop-ups or anything...(really don't know where to look actually)

But I have google toolbar installed... but (now I am saying this, I see it has disappeared too...) so that's not true either...

I'm going to check that... maybe I have to reinstall

That is not possible either...(installer works with Javascript, and that doesn't work)

and I have noticed much more problems in the mainwhile... In the normal Explorer the folders show no more files. Only in some of them you see them. In the bottom it says the contents in bytes etc. so the files aren't missing but just not displayed. The control panels is not shown... When I open it you see a blank folder. But when I set the folders-layout on, the contents show up in a frame in the left while they should be in the right frame and the left frame should contain the folders of my computer. The right frame now stays empty...

I am getting really worried by now... =(

I had a similar problem after doing a malware removal - specifically the HSA generic solution.

Java would not work on most sites including ebay and sprintpcs. I had to switch to firefox.

Uhuh... that's what I do now too... but lot's of javascripts don't work on Firefox (a few script I wrote myself for my site www.bctilburg.net too) so I hate it. And just need to have explorer fixed.

Excatly - I hear ya. I use firefox for sites where my IE was not working, but there are plenty where they are designed for IE and fox does not work.

My biggest problem is that my media player does not work within the IE browser but works stand alone. Does yours work ?

Yes... mine gives me an error...

Isn't there any solution!? Else I start formatting etcetera...

I guess we are in the same boat then.

The malware clean up messed up the IE browser. Reinstalling IE and Media Player does not work - so don't bother trying.

    What next ?

Did they tried to help you already? Or just nothing!?

By the way... have you got the simptoms too... that the normal Windows-explorer doesn't work properly because folders seem to contain nothing..?!

Try using the IEFix utility. You can download it here.

Tried IE fix ... no workie. For example go to the following URL http://www.compfused.com/directlink/719/

And compare your results to my attachment. Reminder - Quicktime works fine. I have rolled back Windows Media Player and reinstalled Version 10.

    I am lost. See attachment.
