I just received an e-mail notification adivising me to upgrade to IE8, the latest revision of Internet Explorer. Has anyone any experience with IE8 and is it really as good as they are saying? I had a few problems with upgrades from MS in the past and don't want to go through a lot of hassle for a few minor (if any) improvements. I am running Windows 2000 Professional, and I think that most upgrades now are geared to XP and Vista.
Any comments will be very much appreciated.

I'm not sure why you are getting that notification because IE 7 will not run on windows 2000 http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/sysreq.mspx
I'm very aware of this because I have several computers currently running windows 2000.
If I were you, I'd be very suspicious of that email. If there was a link in it to download IE 8, it would probably download malware to your computer. Microsoft never sends emails telling you to update anything.

You may want to forward the email to Microsoft so they can shut down a site possibly infecting people who are getting scammed by this email.

Thanks for the quick reply. I think I'll forego the "Update", seeing that I'm satisfied with what I now have.
