    So I've heard about how the non-IE browsers are better, get less viri, etc., but was wondering;
    Are they more secure? Or do just less people fool with writing malware for them, therefore when they become more popular, they will have more malware, vicious cycle, ad infinitum. (correct usage?)
    Also, what are some things someone should know before switching? Any unexpected problems?
    What has been you peoples' experience? thx

    I'd go for firefox, not only because i use it lol, but it appears to run faster and there's faaaaaaaar less spyware!!!!!!!!

    I'm sure that a lot of people will agree with me that the change from IE to Firefox or Opera would be recommended!

    and the change is painless. I moved my wife over in 5 minutes and she had ZERO problems with it. Still uses it to this day without any complaints.

    Yeah exactly, took me no time at all to adapt to Firefox. I currently use opera on my laptop and firefox at home, i love firefox and HATE I.E. :cool:

    I use both opera and firefox, both are much better browsers than IE and both are more secure.

    Any browser is more secure than IE.Firefox,quick download, free,secure,fast,no spyware,pop up blocker,and ad blocker.easy to learn.You can have multiple browsers on your computer it wont conflict with IE.If your not sure dont make it your default browser till after you've used it for awhile.If you dont like it uninstall it.Download and take a test run easy learning curve.Only unexpected problems i can think of is firefox.exe needs internet access thru any firewall you may have. have fun

    My .02 cents.................I have finally switched totally to firefox and see no downside once I got my yahoo toolbar and favorites on it. I really didn't have any probs with IE but decided to go with the more-knowledgeable-than-me crowd. Now the kicker.....at my suggestion, a friend in Wyo (maybe thats the prob) changed from IE to Firefox and swears that opening pages etc is much slower than IE and has changed back. She isn't very computer literate so I didn't suggest other probs may be causing the slowdown. After she get back on IE I'll see what she thinks then. Any Ideas (except....don't associate with Wyo women-folk) ?
