IE6 SP1 & Win 98

My daughter's computer was a mess (an old Compaq, AMD 500, Win 98). I used the rescue discs and it reformatted everything. I reinstalled 98 SE. Everything was fine. I got critical update messages for IE6. As soon as I loaded SP1, I got weird IE problems. If I go to AOL or any other site, I immediately get a message that "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close". If I remove SP1 and revert to the original IE6, things are cool again.

What's up with that???? Any ideas?

If any, can you give us the exact error message, details, any numbers or .dll's listed. That would help.

Then there was another link and it opened what looked like a LOT of code written in Notepad.

For some reason or another, I'm unable to copy what the message says. I wanted to copy / print it, but can't.

I know this isn't much help...I'll see if I can get the info somehow.
