IE7 gone goofy

During attempts to fix OE6 not showing messages, IE7 now thinks it's IE6. About identifies it as ver 7, help is ver 7 help. However, there is no tab bar and Tools/Options has no tab box.

Brief history. OE6 had problems after an unrelated utility upgrade (see separate thread). As part of repair attempt, following suggested methods, tried to remove and reinstall OE through Add/Remove Programs. OE6 was unchanged, but all IE icons disappeared. Using advice based on info from MS update, set OE6 IsInstalled to 0 to allow re-download. Dear wife was afraid of losing bookmarks and did an IE7 install rather than IE6 followed by IE7, assuming OE would ride along. OE did not reregister. Set IsInstalled back to 1, no change to OE. Searched through Explore and found IE7, started program and that's where we sit. Note: Download of IE7 mentioned was through Firefox because IE wasn't visible. After finding IE, tried again through IE with no change.

We need to: Fix IE7, fix OE6, preserve IE favorites and, if possible, save existing message filters in OE.
