Every time I click on the help tab and then index and contents, the help screen appears but in the right hand panel I have the message 'Internet Explorer cannot display the web page'. I click on diagnose connection problems, I then get an Internet Explorer script error reporting the following

    Line: 211
    Char: 5
    Error: Not implemented
    Code: 0
    URL: res://ieframe.dll/dnserror.htm

Then nothing happens no matter if I click on Yes or No.

    I have Windows XP SP2
    Zone Alarm Security Suite 6.5.737.000
    1GB RAM
    3.06 Ghz Pentium 4

Check the c:\windows\help folder, and make sure that both "iexplore.chm" and "iexplore.hlp" are present; if one of these files are missing, you might get "page cannot be displayed" when clicking on help.

Wow. Not sure what is going on here, then. Do you have any problem with help files in any other applications, like going to start->help and support?

Don't have any problems using Start -> Help and Support. But just check Help in Word and Excel and have the same problem with them.............

Just found that all the help files for IE7, Word and Excel etc are opened by a program call Microsoft html help executable. I am unable to find this program doing a search, would someone know where it's located, and if my copys not there how would I replace it.

OK, good work! Does the c:\windows\hh.exe file actually exist on your computer? If it is missing, you might be able to replace it automatically by typing in "sfc /scannow" into a runline.

If the file is there, you could search for "hh.exe" on this page: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_h.htm , it has alot of information on how to repair this program when it is broken.

Apparently, deleting Delete or renaming the file hh.dat, found in
    c:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\HTML
Help sometimes fixes this issues, as well.

I also found what appears to be an MS download for the program, found here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...fc-cb70-464d-85e6-f598c11ccecf&DisplayLang=en , but I would probably try the other stuff first (or at least create a restore point) before installing it.

    Good luck!

    1. Found hh.exe on disk, but nothing happened when I double clicked on it, so renamed it did "sfc /scannow" but it kept asking for XP disc which I don't have as it came preloaded when I bought.

    2. Checked out website only fix for hh.exe I could find was to check certain registry values and mine where fine.

    3. Did that and nothing altered.

    4. Downloaded file, and when I double clicked on file to run it, I got the error message "HTML Help 1.3 cannot be installed on Windows 2000". Even though I'm running XP SP 2.

If there's nothing more to do, then it's not a problem, has I rarely use the help functions anyway. I just thought there maybe an easy way of fixing it....

    Thanks

    David
