I've set and re-set the home page with IE7 on this PC (XP Home SP2) and no matter what, when I open IE7, it always goes here http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx . . . . If I click the little house button, the homepage I entered in Internet Properties opens nice and quick, but why won't my homepage open when I click the blue "e" icon?

You must have downloaded something just now that set your homepage for msn's site? Did you get yourself a new program or something?

Perhaps a dumb question and answer but anyway:

Could it be that there is a corruption in the IE shortcut?

Have you tried to right click Internet Explorer on the start button and create a new shortcut? If that works, then just delete the old shortcut.

No, nothing new downloaded from MSN or Microsoft. I've seen the same thing happen with new installs of IE7, but it usually goes away after a few surf sessions. On this PC, it just won't stop. I've set at least 10 different home pages; I've tried opening IE at least 10 times with each home page (probably more like 20 times) and it still goes to runonce.
I guess it's possible.... I don't see how that would effect the home page issue, but I guess anything is worth a try at this point.

Thanks for the suggestions.... I'll be back at the PC tomorrow...

The link is to a small batch file with a simple GUI. It worked like a champ. I totally appreciate it! I'm saving the file on my flash-drive-of-tricks ;)
    Thanks again!

Usually, the run once page will show up every time you start your browser (IE7 anyway) until you select the options it asks you about. My guess (since browser hijackers aren't going to send you to a Microsoft page) is that you are simply ignoring it instead of clicking a few options. That remover looks worth a look, though.
