First Uninstall whatever you have there already of IE7.

In windows explorer make sure you can see hidden files from
    tools>viewtab>advanced

    then
    start>run>typein
    %systemroot%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe/ok

    follow the onscreen instructions.

    restart.

Now go to the download again and make sure that the only thing you are installing is IE7 - the download includes several other things which interfere for some users.

    Start installation
next on welcome to windows ie7 page
    accept the licence
    hit validate
clear the options to install latest updates and malicious software remover.
    next
    restart after installation.

You can also download autopatcher from MG, it's included as an option and will install from CD or Hard Drive.

    See Bazza's recent post

There is also a post SP2 version which is much slimmer.

If it won't work it is because the previous install/removal didn't get far enough to put it there.

So just go ahead and install IE7, without the extras and chili sauce.
    Or do it from autopatcher.
