Ie7

Hello all,

I'm having troubles installing IE7 :confused

Any thoughts on why that is?

a bit more info. what trouble are you having? what happings when you try to install it?

 

Do you have an error code or a better description of the issue you are having?

 

I downloaded and installed IE7 from the Microsoft website and everything seemed fine(no error codes) but after the required reboot IE7 just wasn't there. I couldn't find it in my add/remove programs either :confused

I'm running Win XP Pro SP2 with relatively highend spec'd machine

Do any of the files:
WINDOWS\ie7_main.log
WINDOWS\ie7.log
WINDOWS\ie7Uninst.log

exist, and if so, what do they say?

I found these files and at the bottom of WINDOWS\ie7.log it says

Internet Explorer 7 has been partially updated and may not work properly.
85.219: Update.exe extended error code = 0x5

At the end of WINDOWS\ie7Uninst.log it says,

29.562: In Function SetVolatileFlag, line 11789, RegOpenKeyEx failed with error 0x2
29.562: In Function SetVolatileFlag, line 11806, RegOpenKeyEx failed with error 0x2
29.562: WinMain: DoPostUninstallWrapper failed: 0x578
29.578: RebootNecessary = 1, DontReboot = 1

Dose it mean anyhing to you?

Well, problem solved.

Zone alarm 6.5.737.000 was the culprit.
