    Hi Guys,
I wonder If you can answer Me this question
I tried several times to run IE8 and the relevant IE7 after it was installed from windows update some months ago
but it doesnt seem to work at all
i ran several scans mainly mwb and sas and there was nothing there on there logs it was clean
in the end i had to uninstall it and now its back to the flakey early version
could you show some light on this
i did post about early on in the year and you surgested i reformat again but the problem is still here.
all the other programs including firefox which im using now as i dont trust the ie now is working fine

Other people may disagree but I've found IE7 to be the lesser of two evils ... when I installed IE8 I couldn't view many many webpages properly and it was very slow ... I've found Mozilla Firefox to be the best browser I've used yet. Mind you I haven't use Google Chrome yet.

I agree with you there Drizzles its just annoying that most Websites are for IE though like Windows update and other that have the need for activex.
the other one is safari for windows by apple thats pretty much the same format as google chrome
but isnt there a question about google itself

    OK
    this is what happens
1 it downloads ok and installs ok too
2 then i reboot the comp and it finishes installing the the web browser
3 it when i click on it it doesnt launch
i had a look at from sysinternal proc monitor and iit just switches it self off and vanishes
no screen comes up at all

    HI richard

As Dom mentions what errors, messages or any info to help diagnose this will be helpful, also run IE in its no add-ons mode as in most instances the issue is from a 3rd party add-on thats not compatible or updated (usual suspects are java, Adome Flash, Shockwave, various toolbars and some security addons)

No-addons mode is found in Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools and see how IE runs.

Edit: typing as you posted and now note the symptoms so try IEs no add-ons mode.

    Drizzles,

If you are having problems with browsing certain websites on IE8, try turning on Compatibility Mode by clicking the icon on the address bar that looks like a broken file. If you still have problems, try this support guide on the Internet Explorer website: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967897

I hope this helps you out!
