IE8 Autocomplete Not saving passwords

Running Win7, IE8, Windows Firewall and AVAST anti-virus

Auto-complete only works occassionally regarding the saving of 'user name/id' and 'password'.

I've tried several actions.... Internet Options/Content/AutoComplete and checking all the necessary boxes; Clearing history/cookies/passwords... etc; restarting IE8; rebooting.

Nothing works. It's hit or miss as far as saving login information to a particular site. The information box asking if you want to save the information appears.. but doesn't always work. Sometimes it will work for a subsequent login or two... but then fails after a couple of successful logons.

 

Well, you could check as well the caché options, look how it is configurated. I attached some images for you to see the standard options.

Also you could try prompting the option "ask me before saving passwords" try logging your e-mail and look if IE is prompting to save the password.

If the IE8 doesn't do what suppose to do at the moment of prompt asking for save password, maybe you want to run a malware tool.

If you update windows constantly, you could run Microsoft Malware Removal Tool just like this:

Start > Run > MRT

It will open the program, just follow the wizard and tell us results.

Thanks for all your help. Although I was aware of much that was mentioned, it got me thinking. I believe my intermitent password saving problem came from the fact I had "Delete browsing history on exit" checked... but didn't 'Uncheck'... Form Data & Passwords under 'Delete Browsing History'.

Was NOT aware of the 'Run' command expained. That may come in handy for future troubleshooting.
