IE8 intermittenly working?

    I am on Vista with IE8 and sometimes when I have 2 or 3 windows open and try to open another or click on a link, it will not open. It just sits and thinks. I try and open different websites and it does the same thing. The other web pages I have opened work fine and the only thing that I can do to open another page is to shut all of my open programs down and open them back up. Is there any other way around this? Maybe switch to Mozilla/Firefox??? Thanks

    Hi


    What service pack are you using in Vista? if not at SP2 then get SP2 as it opens up none conccurrent TCP/IP connections.

    Not downloading simultaneously with any p2p application are you?


    I would try another browser and see if you get the same issue, as this would rule out an issue with IE.

    I use IE8 and can open as many sites as I need, so know the core of IE8 is ok, so muct be a setting issue etc.

    How do I know if I have SP2 or not? I h8 to download for an hour when I don't need to. If I use a different browser I should remove IE8 correct?

    Hi

    To find out if your using a specific SP click Start and in the Start Search box type winver and hit enter and the box that appears will tell you what service pack you have.


    NO you dont need to uninstall IE8 to try another browser out.

    Do you use P2P? (torrents in other words)

    What Security softwar do you have installed?

    service pack 1, I will DL 2 now. no P2P app, and I have AVG 8.5 and twice a month run Adaware

    Try right clicking on the link and then click on open link in a new window. That usually works for me.

    The only time I had a problem with IE8 is when windows downloaded more updates for it and IE8 would open up at all for me. But it's working fine now. Also use Google Chrome, but finding out that many graphics don't work using Chrome.

    The right click link doesn't work either. I can't use a different browser because one of the applications I use daily only allows IE :cry Any other ideas?
