IE8 Runtime error?

A short while ago I posted a report concerning my having to re-activate windows, which I managed to do successfully.

Now however I can't run Internet explorer 8 and I get the following error message:-

"Runtime Error
Program C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\ie explorer.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."

I re-installed IE8 but the problem is still there. My default browser in Firefox but I still need IE8 for certain purposes. I know it's hopeless trying to contact the so-called support team and I hope there is someone (Tim are YOU there?) who might be able to help me resolve this problem. Obviously this is somehow connected to my just having re-activated windows.

By the way, I had to re-activate windows after installing an Adobe Acrobat update which Tim has told me is a known problem. Does that perhaps suggest anything which might bring about a Runtime error?

Regarding my message above, I checked around the web in consequence of which I cleaned out all the cookies (CC Cleaner) and in Safe Mode removed an unwanted search engine called MyWay.
After restarting my computer it now works fine.
I hope this helps anyone else who gets the same problem.
