IE8 works but other browsers don't after update

I updated windows XP and installed IE8 since I had IE6(I hate IE its utter crap in every form and way) after the update no other browser will work EXCEPT IE8 (which I despise). help me get Chrome back, I miss it dearly.
I tried getting the installers for Firefox and Chrome but to no avail did this work AT ALL. Microsoft is making me want to become more of a mac user more and more. Please help me get Chrome back to working.
whenever I pull it up it says webpage not available and I check the info on the error and it says this: Error 10 (net::ERR_ACCESS_DENIED): Unknown error.
wtf, I seriously hope Microsoft hasn't become some Nazi and denied other browsers.

Should roll back to IE6 if you delete IE8.

 

errr how do I do this procedure? cause i turned off System Restore and all that mess.

 

Look in Add/Remove.

 

well if I remove it then I won't have an internet browser at all
sooo should I find a back up .exe of IE8 just in case?

 

IE6 will still be there.

uninstall through add/remove

 

Should have immediately rolled back to the last previously installed version.

 

it did but it didn't fix google chrome or anything
i still had/have to go through the windows update icon to even get on the internet

 

any ideas?

and umm yeah my other internet dependant programs won't connect either

 

Try one of these repairs, according to IE version.

And yes I know it's other stuff 'not working' but the fault may still be with IE.

figured out the problem after I researched it on google chrome's forums for the billionth time.Found alot of people after updating any operating system to now whats up to date have to remove their Anti-whatever programs in order for it to work correctly

 

update on the situation, so I've had the net back for a bit and it seems a LOT slower than usual (mainly on Myspace) but it used to take like seconds t pop up and now it takes like 1 to 5 minutes. I even ran a virus check after reinstalling and then uninstalling the AVG 8.5 software which came up with nothing.Any Ideas or is my version of AVG just too old or what?
