IE9 object error

I have worked thru the "Search Here" malware issue with Kestrel on the malware forum. Firefox is clean and works now.

But Internet Explorer continues to lock up with an Message from webpa...[object Error] The task manager shows two instances of IE Explorer and both must be ended to close the browser. With the error message up immediately, IE is inaccessible, so I can't make any changes to it.

We finally had to uninstall Firefox with Revo Uninstaller to eliminate all traces and reinstall a new version to get that clean.

I don't know if that will work with IE or not and since this runs on a company machine with an intranet, I thought I better see what you all think, before I try it.

 

Hello, maybe one of the others here may take this, but I would not want to get you in trouble with your employer, so maybe you should check with the company to see if they will let you try to repair this or they may have a computer tech on hand. Just a thought, because IE9 is an update, so you need to remove it in a slightly different manner than IE8.

I had checked out that link. I was wondering if I rolled it back to IE8 and then reinstalled IE9, if that would actually fix that error. Too late to worry about making them mad, I already ran all the malware scans, etc to get rid of the original problem. My wife was in a panic as she couldn't work until I did something for her.

 

Once it's rolled back to IE8, give that a try for awhile and see what happens, then decided your next move.

 

I gave her the decision. it all works with firefox, so I could do as we have talked about or she could just drop it at tech support sometime when she is out there and tell them IE doesn't work. And let them deal with it. My preference actually as its taken 2-3 days to get this far.
