iexplore exe. application error......please help

i'm running win xp on an emachine ....recently whenever i try to play games (pogo,yahoo,etc.) the computer will shut down the pagesand show me ..iexplore exe. application error .....the instruction at ......referenced memory at........the memory could not be read.i have downloaded firefox ,spybot,ccleaner...i have cleaned out all temp files,history,cookies...i have latest version of directx ,and java sun i cannot reinstall windows because of cd burner completely at a lost ...please help

Without the error codes it is just a guess ...but could be ram issues ....can you get back into event viewer and check the applications for errors and give us the codes that relate to the iexplore errors?

i looked in the applications and found these.....hanging application..iexplore exe. version 6.0.2900.2180 hang module hungapp version 0.0.0.0 hang address 000000.............also, faulting application iexplore. exe faulting module ntdll , version ............faulting application javaws.exe version 5.0.7.0.3. faulting module msvcrt.dll,version 7.0.2600.2180 fault address 0x000383b4 and there is a few that start with ..MS DTC..,....MS DTC transaction manager start failed loglnit returned error 0 x 5 .....MS DTC log file not found. after ensuring that all resource managers coordinated by ms dtc have no indoubt transacting please run msdtc resetlog to create log file ..........there is a few more starting with the MS DTC but they kinda read the same ...........i hope these is what you meant me to look up...lol

None of those are the codes ...however....questions ...how much ram do you have? And is it reported accurately in My computer (right click and chose properties ...) do you have sp2 installed?

Way to little ram .....xp says that is minimum ....256 is lite ...512 will give reasonalbe application performance ....1 gig will give you good game performance.

what can i do now?.....i used to play games just fine on this tower.........i tried to uninstall sp2 but it lefted alot of files on my computer and i wasnt able to use internet at all so i did a system restore

Ram could be getting hinky ...other applications and sp2 could be using some of the ram ....you need to install more to make sure .....

Go to a local computer store and ask for some pc100 ram ....atleast 128 stick or better a 512 stick. Then we'll show you how to install. ..oops ...may be confusing you with another poster ....do you know what the motherboard in the pc is?
Would you download everest and tell us what it reports as the type of ram you have?

Scan / scroll down the summary report ...or look at motherboard section...can't remember (mind is too young to hold all the info) ...there should be a few references to memory slot1 ...slot2 ....and if it is good will indicate 128 mgs and what it is ...or just tell us what it says the motherboard is ...we'll find it.

Good ....so you need pc133 ....and does your video card use 3mgs of ram? Your ram should read as 128 ....unless your onboard video is using some. But you ran memtest, so it probably is .....
To install, take the side cover off ...(after shutting down, and unplugging the puter) ..you will see where your ram is ....just add to the next bay and make sure the clips lock it in place.

I'm just a bit confused here re Timw response to this thread. I have 2 gigs of ram in my box and I am getting the same annoying NTDLL.EXE error when closing down ie7 on my daughters pc. what does this have to do with ram? nada.
