Calling my office today, I'm going to have kill some kittens. I've had 5.. 5!!!!! solicitors call me today by 11:15am.. That is unacceptable. IF I need something, I will come find YOU.. until then..

i've got a photographer waiting for me outside the house. not very nice. i wish guns were legal in the UK..

wish I had control over any of that.. I'm a government contractor. This is what I say as soon as I figure out (about 3 seconds into the call) it's a solicitor.

"STOP, before you say anything more. This is a government owned and operated facility. I am a contractor. I have NO authority over which vendors I purchase from. I'm sorry, but I cannot help you. "

that pretty much ends the call, unless I just out right hang up on them.. which is what I did on that last one..

 

Killing solicitors is like killing lawyers, it's a public service, not murder.

 

When I worked for a marketing company, some of my best leads came from contractors working for Government contracts..

What were they selling?

 

Hardware, software solutions. NONE of which I could authorize at any level.

 

Kodo, a great way to deal with any unsolicited call if you can afford your phone to be tied up for a while. When you get an unsolicited call, let them start their spiel. Interrupt them part way through and say "Excuse me a moment". DONT HANG UP, put the phone down quietly and leave it off the hook for 15 minutes or so. It wastes their time as they wait for you to come back, more than they waste yours. Has the bonus that they can't annoy as many others in a day as per their target call list. Works for me. Bazza
