Ignores.exe

i installed a few apps earlier, and ever since, i keep getting popups "the app ignores.exe could not be started -- more info: Y/N?" clicking Y takes me to a page supposedly explaining things, clicking N kills off the popup, which is immediately replaced by another (same) popup. killing off that second one, however, kills it off for real.

until the next time it starts up, usually in about 3 mins.

i am less concerned with w/e the infection is, than with these DAMN POPUPS. how do i kill them off once and for all?! an hour-long tv show, say, will get interrupted 20 or 30 times!

moreover, how do i find what is CALLING this app? tried googling, but the search string is too tricky. even in quotes, google is flooded with results like "windows ignores .exe files", i.e., with ignores as a verb.

i should note that none of those apps i installed is RUNNING during any of this. if one of them was responsible for launching some malware, it has done so it a way that the latter will run on its own.

 

fwiw, this shows up in the task mgr as "FormsApp". which has its own popup on the other side of the screen.

MBAM, SpyBot, etc. flagging nothing by either name. and the popups continue.....

 

well now, i got rid of them BOTH -- plus the buggy cursor -- SOMEHOW just now. not even sure how. i *think* it was ultimately SpyBot that did the trick, but i'm not 100% sure.

problems *appear* to have been related to a ?buggy/?infected copy of YTD downloader. no clue why. have used that for years w/o any problem.

but for now, knock on wood. holding my breath that nothing flares up again -- that was like 48 hours of HELL just now.
