Windows had downloaded some updates while I'd been on the internet, so I eventually decided to restart windows to finish off the update. When my PC restarted I got the following error.

RTHDCPL.EXE - Illegal System DLL Relocation

The system DLL user32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly. The relocation occurred because the DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\HHCTRL.OCX occupied an address range reserved for windows sytem DLL's. The vendor should be contacted for a new DLL.

This error only occurs after I've logged onto my user account and my PC seems to be still working, but I've only logged onto here so far.

The file RTHDCPL.EXE according to a google search belongs to REALTEK software, I have a REALTEK soundcard, but when I try to open the REALTEK HD Sound Effect Manager program in the Control Panel nothing happens, but I can still play music on WMP 11.

I've found a site DLL-files.com which will let download the user32.dll file, is this site OK, and to what location do I install the file.

    Thanks

    David
