    Hi
I have a problems that is driving me nuts, and I can't resolve it by searching the net. I have a desktop PC with XP Pro. I am using Internet Explorer 8.0.6000.18702

When I go to a lot, but not all, websites, the color of some of the buttons is a bright blue, but the letters are black or blue, and are illegible.

I tried to change the color using Tools/Internet Options/Generall Tab - Appearance/Colors, but to no avail.

I took a screenshot and pasted it into a Word .doc file, but when I tried to attach it, I got a message that it was too big. It is 116 KB, and it exceeds the forum's limit of 97.7 KB.

Please advise me how I can change the colors of the buttons, and if you need to see the screenshot, how can I reduce the size of the .doc file so I can attach it.

    Thank you.

Hi there. This is not really my "thing" as I usually deal with malware removal, however, in order to assist you in getting more help can I just say, you can zip (compress) that screenshot up and attach it that way.

Also please explain if using another browser, such as Firefox or Google Chrome, does the same still occur then? :confused

    Hi Kestrel13
Sorry I haven't replied to you sooner...medical emergency in the family.

I re-did the screen shot to show you what I mean. This is a screenshot from Yahoo, and I saved it as a .jpg instead of pasting into Word. Then I downsized it in Paint. As you can see, the title bars are not readable.

I haven't tried it with other browsers yet, but I have tried both Firefox and Chrome and don't really like either of them. Too much baggage when I install them. I suppose eventually I'll have to change, but I'm 71 and kind of set in my ways.

I thought there might be somewhere in Explorer that I can change it. Perhaps in the registry??

Thank you for your help. Much appreciated.

    Jim

Well it is not an IE 8 setting.
Here's my screenshot of IE 8 from an XP Home computer

Click to enlarge. There are no blue bars, it is white.

Check your Windows settings because I suspect it is something in Appearance (tab) in Display Properties.

You may be able to override those colors using the instructions in the attached jpeg.
