seems no one has a clue how to fix the Liteon DVD issue. I talked to my good friend 5500 Km away, seems he has the same problem, with his new liteon. does noone else but us have issues with liteon reading a disc of any kind?
I explained the problem once, here I go again...'
why wont my dvd/cd read anything but windows xp?
I am running xp pro sp2...I cant be the only one(plus my friend)) with this issue.
I have turned off almost all the security functions+my firewall+my anti virus.
we both have an asus mobo, mine is newer.
It's a A8n-SLI delux, 500 watt psu, 512ram, 256 meg card , AMD with a dvd i am ready to throw away(so is he)WTF
any help?

First thing I found:
The problem of the LTD163 not playing DVD's is solved by Martin Dunn.

He suggested not using the UDF file system as it conflicts with many DVD players.

I therefor remembered that I indeed used a CDRW not so long ago. And I noticed that windows installed the UDF package.

So I uninstalled the UDF file system and the drive works fine now!

Still looking ..report back.

Thanks for the reply...No really THANKS. The drivers that you are talking about, I can see them and know where they are but, ... how would I go about uninstalling them rather than just deleting , wich without somthing to say about nothing but "pain" I would rather not do unless i'm sure.
What are the udf's for? (suppose i could look it up but...) Gee, Foot in my mouth...I need som direction....Shhh, jus don't tell ok :~D
