Hello all, First Post Here, hopefully you guys can help me (Yes i searched too ;-).

    Heres my system specs:
    A8N-SLI
    1.75GB Ram
    XFX 7900GS (600 Core, 1600Clock)
    AMD 3500+ OC'ed to 2.42

This problem only arose recently. My southbridge chipset fan recently kicked the bucket on this PC and i had to replace it. The thing is though the video card is RIGHT next to the chipset fan and there was ALOT of heat being displaced by the metal *since the fan wasn't working. So I put a new fan in and when i try to play some games i get a weird visual error. Games such as Lost Planet, Bioshock Demo, MS Flight Sim 10, all have the weird visual error. HOWEVER though, i tried playing Overlord and it ran fine, no glitches nothing.

Here is a picture corresponding to my problems:-(sorry the picture sucks, but when i try to do a print screen, it comes out looking normal)

I have the same mobo. There is too much heat dissipating from the mobo's heat-pipe to keep your video card happy. I run dual video, so in the very hot weather I pull air out of the side of the box with a 500mm window fan. If you are running a single video card, you might try moving it to the other slot, away from the heat pipe.:)

Actually bro, my friend posted this for me.

I don't have a heat pipe on mine. And like i said recently my southbridge chipset fan went out of commission, so i replaced it with a thermaltake from newegg.com. Could the heat from the older chipset metal have overheated and destroyed part of the video card?

I ask because some games work while others don't, which is why i don't know if its a hardware issue.

if your video card was toast it would be like that all the time. is the card overclocked? can your PSU handle it?

As I've said, this problem has only just recently arisen. The card is factory OC'ed and has been running on this PC like that for some time now.

Also again, Overlord works, but games like Lost Planet, MS Flight Sim 10, or even a game as simple as Empire Earth don't work properly and give me messed up images.

*Look at link in first post to see what i mean.

Weird, you got a videocard warranty? Usually when a video card overheats its just dead, stuff like that happens. But with overlord I dont get it, Im a noob to hardware problems but your problem is really weird o_O. Try sending the card in if you have a warranty.

Sadly I don't think theres any warranty left on this card. I actually got this PC from VolumeOne a good while back and its been working fine. I've dealt with dead pixel shaders on previous computers and know what those look like *IE artifacts, but this doesn't seem to be the case here. I'm completely stumped here, and hope if at the least its a software issue. Then i would have to uninstall and REINSTALL all those games :(

    UPDATE:

So I tested a little in the dark theory I had.

I uninstalled Empire Earth and reinstalled it, and the game looks fine. I don't know what happened to tell anyone the truth, but its working A O K.

    UPDATE TO AN UPDATE:

OK SCRATCH WHAT I JUST SAID ABOVE.

It worked one round through, then its back to crap now :(. I don't know whats going on but its not good.
