I'm looking for something that can answer my POTS telephone line and take messages.

Hello, my name is Jerome. I recently purchased a Creative Modem Blaster to answer my telephone and take messages like an answering machine but it is an *extremely* primitive unit. It only plays the outgoing message and records incoming messages @ 8000Hz 8bit. I would *like* to be able to do at *least* like 16bit 44100Hz. Also my callers complain that they can't hear the OGM (Out-Going Message) and my biggest complaint is that I can't hear my ICM (In-Coming Message) but the modem doesn't support volume control for OGM or ICM. The software I have supports these controls but they're greyed out in the menu because the modem doesn't. The software is FaxTalk Messenger Pro 7.0. I've tried increasing the volume of my OGM audio clip using sound recording software (Goldwave) but even when I max audio volume it's still too quiet. There's this thing called VOIP2 callbox (www.voip2.net) that works like answering machine but you have to subscribe to their service for the unit to work. I have researched modems online but they never seem to give information like recording quality. Plus they don't tell you if you can modify OGM and ICM volume. I prefer external USB modem or ethernet device but I can go internal if it's necessary. I don't like to use up IRQ's unless I absolutely have to. If it's at all possible I'd like to keep the price around $100.00USD. If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance. -Jerome
