im lost...

i know very little about computers. this thing is going to blow up one day soon if i dont get help. i cannot keep viruses and such out no matter what i do. at times i really think it hates me. can anybody help me? remember... i dont know much about computer lingo. all i know is.. its an HP pavilion 524w (so says the case that i took off) the only thing ive ever changed on it is a new CD drive. i run Avast antivirus which seems to help a little. sorry if thats not enough info

You should go to the Malware Forum and follow all the directions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST sticky. That will get you started on cleaning out the virus. Post back in there if you are still having problems.

 

One way to stop viri from entering your system is to stop opening emails that you do not know who they are from, and also do not browse websites just because it looks good.

Regular scans with your A/V, use Spybot S&D for scanning, and Adware. There are a lot more programs to use, but the top three types as mentioned are a good start.

 

are these free programs?

 

Last time I checked they where free.
