I upgraded to Windows XP and discovered I couldn't download applets for Yahoo Games... while discovering this, I mistakenly told Yahoo to not ask me about downloading them again. So, I then downloaded Java from Sun, deleted history, etc., so hopefully Yahoo would not remember I didn't want to be asked to download applets anymore. Didn't work. Now it doesn't work for any Yahoo Game, MSN, etc. Yahoo can't help me, Microsoft can't help me... can you guys? I really need this problem fixed.

Thanks so much for your help!! :D

You check internet options\advanced? Check in there for anything thats unchecked that might do it.. Not real sure on this one.

Only other thought (and I am afraid I am guessing here) would be to view your cookies and delete all Yahoo cookies. That probably saves your settings from Yahoo. If that does not work, I will think of something else, look into it more for you or maybe someone else here can help. In XP it will be in a folder like
    C:\Documents and Settings\Tim\Cookies

Where Tim would be the computer name.

Yahoo also suggest clearing your cache (temporary internet files) They also explain how to check your Java, something you might be able to upgrade or reinstall to revert back to original settings. So, theres a few more things, one of these will work. Im sure you've done some of these, but just in case. I would re-install Suns Java as a last resort only. I think clearing temporary internet files and Yahoo cookies might do it. Yahoo seems to think a lot of problems can be fixed by clearing your cache, so try that.

Internet Explorer 5.XX or 6.XX for Windows

Click "Tools" in the menu bar, and then select "Internet Options."
Click the "Security" tab. For the Internet zone, be sure that the Security level is set to "Medium" or below. (If you have chosen to customize your security settings for the Internet zone, be sure that under the Java heading, "Java permissions" is not set to "Disable Java." You will want to select one of the three safety levels instead. Also be sure that under the Scripting heading, "Scripting of Java Applets" is set to "Enable" or "Prompt.")
    Next, click the "Advanced" tab.
Scroll down until you see the sub heading "Java VM."
Check the boxes next to "Java logging enabled" and "Java console enabled." (Note: If you checked the box next to "Java JIT compiler enabled" and are experiencing freezing problems, uncheck that box.)

Herein may lie the problem... When I click the Advanced Tab, I do not have a sub heading called "Java VM" - I wonder why not? I saved the Java download... perhaps I need to uninstall and reinstall? Like I said before, I am new and don't know much, although I did go and empty cache, delete cookies, etc.

    Thanks again for the help

Thats a typo from Yahoo support page, its actually the heading called "Microsoft VM"

I am assuming you have the latest Internet Explorer version from Windows Update.

You may also be able to restore all default Internet Explorer web settings.

You could also download Opera or Mozilla for now.

Yes, I have the latest version of IE... BUT I do not have a heading in my advanced tab called "Microsoft VM" either. Opera? Mozilla? Hmmm guess I'll check that out too. ty

Yeah, you have me stumped now. I am assuming Sun Java may have overwritten the Microsoft Java. You could try add\remove programs - Windows components and repair Internet Explorer. Dont forget to reset default web settings too as mentioned above. Im really suprised deleting the Yahoo cookies didnt do it. One of the above should fix it. I wish I was there to fix it :)

Microsoft has a troubleshooting page, pretty geeky, though.

Hope it works, I am stumped from here except to try Opera:
    http://www.opera.com/download/index...dows&session=ccab9ba81e27a290360e640a3b1e23c9
If you can play games with that, its a problem with IE settings.
