I downloaded ccleaner from filehippo and I have had problems with my computer

it would freeze up, couldn't access pages tried to use system tools to restore to previous date and I am not able to. Also Yahoo gave me a tool bar I didn't want.

Thanks for responding. I did as you instucted did have many files with issues that it seemed to clean up. I still am not able to restore my settings to previous date with systems tools. Not able to click on any dates. I still have the yahoo tool bar I would like to delete. E

If you can't delete the Yahoo toolbar thru add/remove programs then do it thru the PC Derapifier

Thanks for your help. I did both for the yahoo task bar, removed from my add remove list and ran the decrapafier. still there. What might be causing a problem is that spybot search and destroy pops up several boxes about items that want me to accept change or deny, since I don't know what specifically they are asking I have denied all

The Spybot Search & Destroy pop ups you are getting are from its 'Tea Timer' Resident protection option - which unless you know very clearly how to use, will cause you more problems than you can handle.
You are probably overriding the uninstall of the Yahoo additions because when Spybot's 'Tea Timer' is asking 'Do you want to allow that change?' you are saying 'No'.

I suggest you disable/turn off the SpyBot Tea Timer.

You need to be in SpyBot's 'Advanced Mode' in order to turn off Tea Timer.

So, open up Spybot and in the top task bar choose 'Mode' > 'Advanced Mode'.

Then at the far left you will now have more menu items. From there choose:

Tools > Resident > then *uncheck* the second box beside 'Resident "Tea Timer".

Now close Spybot.

Now open Task Manager and in the 'Processes' list find 'TeaTimer.exe' and highlight it and click on 'end process'.

You should now check within Firefox (*and* Internet Explorer, even if you don't use it as a Yahoo toolbar will have been added there too) that the Yahoo Toolbar add on has been removed.
If not do the steps again you did earlier.

In terms of using the protection given by the Spybot Search & Destroy 'Tea Timer' option in the future - unless you spend some time reading the Spybot Support files about how it works, you will not get any help from it but, rather, you may cause yourself ongoing needless system problems.

You r right I feel like I am getting in more trouble because I don't understand enough of the terms used in computer land. I'm afraid to get that involved with spybot I'm likley to cause my computer severe damage. It continues to do funky things. What if I remove spybot and run decraper? Do U think that is a cleaner I can trust?

Another thing is that I get several messages, when I try to open things like control panel or trying to watch a video on media player that says application did not initialize although I cant restore to a previous date when I ran decraper I saved a restore point I was wondering if I should go back to that and than delete spyspot so I don't cause myself more problems.

It's difficult to say what will happen if you restore your system to a previous state with a Restore Point.
You could try that and then run that program you mention again to now correctly remove those programs you don't want.

OK So I did the steps up to Open task manager. I couldn't find that so I did a search.Found 2 When I tried to open either. The message was "cannot open this file it can go online to look it up or I can select manually." I didn't know what to select or how to follow through with what I select. So that is where I am now. Thanks for your patience and help. Need to leave for a few hours.

That's stops SpyBots Tea Timer until you next restart the system.

Stopping TeaTimer altogether (from within SpyBot) is how I described earlier.

Wow that task manager sure looks interesting don't know what anything in there means but it looks good.
This morning I did what u suggested with tea timer and tonight when I got in I looked for tea timer in task manager and I was NOT able to find it. So I' not really sure what I should do.
What is all that stuff in task manager?

OK well you did it the other way around - which is fine, ie if you first disabled 'Tea Timer' from within SpyBot Search & Destroy itself, then it would not appear in Task Manager.

Task Manager is a part of windows giving you numerous types of information about your system and ways of controlling applications, Processes/Services and Random Access Memory (RAM) within it. However, you should never play around with it unless either (a) you know clearly what you are doing or (b) you are given credible advice on using it for a specific purpose.

Thanks Mark for all your help. My computer seems to be working fine now. That article was interesting, but ithink I'll not mess with it. Keepin my fingers crossed that it continues
