I'm not sure where to ask this so I'll try here.

I recently purchased a new computer. The available space was 202GB out of 222GB. Well about two weeks in and it is down to 193GB. I know I didn't download that much. I wonder what is taking up the space. It dropped like 1GB in the past hour or so. I have NIS2008 and it reports that everything is fine. Could it be the files in Windows Media Center? It seems like it gets new movie files on its own every now and then. If it is that can I somehow disable this?

    Hi

It could be System Restore as this runs at various times from you installing MSFT updates, installing new software and a pre determined times, generally these backups can take 1GB or more space.

Right click on your C: drive and choose Properties > Disk Cleanup > More Options > then Cleanup under System Restore, this will purge all but the last known System restore point and give you back your space.

May also be files stored in your Norton Protected Recycle Bin, to purge these http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nsw.nsf/0/831aa5c6ef0d750685256c370048ad89?OpenDocument

You can disable system restore if one wishes in vista, btw.

Thanks for helping. The cleanup under system restore did the trick. It gave me 13GB back.

One more thing while I'm here. The computer had the google toolbar already installed when I bought it. This creates problems sometimes. It sometimes randomly replaces my address bar for some reason and takes me to google image search instead of the site address I typed. Can I remove this for good? I know some stuff you remove but parts of it are still hidden away somewhere.
