I periodically create an image backup onto an external hard drive using Microsoft's 'backup and restore' application. But it occurred to me -- what would I do if the laptop stopped functioning and I tried to restore the backup image to see if that would bring the laptop back to life? If the laptop is not running, then I cannot access the Microsoft 'backup and restore' application, so how would I restore the image? Could I use the functionality of a 'repair disk'? Am I missing some important concept?
