    Hello
I have always used Macrium but they are now going to charge as the program installation is a 30 day trial.
Although basic and slow I am turning to the Win 10 imaging program for disaster recovery.
I have read about other free programs but there is no proof the have discs that handle UEFI and they too will soon charge.

My question is, do you use the disc to recover as I did with Macrium or do you go within Windows recovery? There could be issues within Windows that could foil the recovery, so I doubt you use that.

I think it is the disc but want to be sure.
    TY
P.S. It is a shame as I have images of 7,8, 8.1 and 10 with Macrium but I will have a new 10 which I use.

Hi peter, good questions but I don't know of any reason why you can't continue to use your existing version of Macrium Reflect. If it won't install or doesn't run well in 10 you could still backup and recover using just the CD. It's all I do these days, I don't install the full program.

I found this peter. Are you sure there is a problem?

To answer your original question peter you would need to create a recovery drive. It's under Recovery in Control Panel. I haven't tested it but assume it will restore an image created with the Win 7 Backup and Restore, also in Win 10 Control Panel.

    I appreciate your replies,Bernie.
The Macrium site as well as every one i tried looks as though it is free until you get to the installation step then it says free/trial.
I just performed a clean install of win 10 so did not have the old Macrium to fall back onto.
So you just use the disc and access the images w/o the program. Interesting but logical - thanx.
I have an current Win 10 image using the native imaging program found under file history and also a Macrium image done after reinstalation.
I will likely get into another 3rd party program that boots UEFI with no problems like Macrium's WinPE 5 if macrium starts to charge at the end of the 30 days.
    I am grateful.

    peterr,
Do have a look at Paragon Backup & Recovery 14 Free Edition. It supports Windows 10 as well as UEFI. You can create a bootable backup - no need for the program to be installed to use it.
