    Hey,

I recorded a couple of clips during my recent trip, but considering it was a hand-held camera I couldn't avoid the shakiness.
I'm looking for a video tool to help me remove that camera shakiness without creating any distortion. I've read a couple of articles, I've memorized some alternatives, but can you please recommend one editor that truly removes that shaky effect?
    Thanks.

    Thanks, Eldon.

I've tried a couple of free tools (Windows Movie Maker not yet), but they haven't really helped me a lot because they've created a significant distortion. I agree with you that a commercial software is the best solution, although it will cost me some money.

Lightworks seems way too complicated for my current level of knowledge :) GoPro Studio seems interesting and pretty intuitive, so I guess you don't have to be an expert. Someone also recommended VideoStudio Pro X8 or X9, but it's $80. I wouldn't want to spend that much. At $30, Filmora is more convenient.

Anyway, I've just realized that there numerous tools to use and I think I should try all the free alternatives before I make a purchase. It's gonna take a while!

Keep in mind Filmora's license is valid for 1 year. You should consider the lifetime license at $50.

Before you start downloading and installing en masse, visit the publisher's website. Check if there's Help, FAQ, Forum, etc.
Contact them if you have to - especially if it's commercial software.

    Good luck! :)

Thanks. I'll get back as soon as I get some results and I'm in the position of making a recommendation for anyone who will encounter the same issue.

    Hey there,

I spent the weekend trying out various free editing tools. Started out with Windows Movie Maker and continued with Virtual Dub. I installed the De-shaker plugin, but the program couldn't open my file. From what I've read, Virtual Dub only reads .avi files, is this true? My file is .mts, so should I convert it or how should I proceed?

I would really like to test all the free tools before I begin making any purchases.

    Yes.
If you're going to use VirtualDub or Windows Movie Maker, you'll have to convert the .mts files.

WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe is hosted by MajorGeeks.
It's currently available free of charge from Digiarty.

    Hey Eldon,

I just found a solution to not convert my .mts file into .avi using VirtualDub - the ffmpeginput plugin.

All you have to do is add it to VirtualDub and it will allow you to open .mts files. This way you don't have to convert your files.
