Hi all, I have a problem with Win 7 pixilating the thumnails of videos (see attachd) and also playing them pixilated.

PC has Asus P5kpl-AM/PS MB and geforce 9800 GT graphic card. Thought problem was graphics card so took it out and deleted drivers etc, but same prob on VGA.

Have down loaded codecs etc, nothing seems to work.

Has anyone experienced same issues and worked out what is the cause?

    Thanks

    Nafty

    Greetings, Nafty...

First things that come to mind are artefacts, which can occur after accidental overclocking: you might try downloading and running CPU-Z and GPU-Z, see if anything jumps out about processor and bus speeds...

I'd check for any Flash/Shockwave updates, both for the machine and for your browser(s)...

Also, did the problem occur on its own, or after installing any other software and/or updates?

One more thought: any way you can switch monitors real quick?

    Keep us posted...

Hi Caliban, thanks for the quick reply. Can't trace when issue started. I have just installed latest Flash/Shockwave updates and rebooted, unfortunatly no luck there.

I ran both tests you mentioned and nothing stood out. I have attached the CPUID report as I did not realy know what to look for.

The graphics card was installed when purchaed PC so don't think it has been overclocked.

On the monitor test, yes install another monitor earlier through the 9800 GT - same issue and then took 9800 GT out and ran monitor through onboard VGA - same issue, hence it has got me stuffed.

Different tack: when you said Win 7's 'playing them', do you mean Media Player? Try another media app, see if anything changes...and, what types of videos are you playing?

Hang in there - maybe some of the gurus here can help you...
