I've had to do a complete fresh Win10 reinstall on a PC, that all went OK. In the past I've always kept a backup of my Favorites folder & simply used that to overwrite the Windows Favorites folder to restore all of my bookmarks. This no longer seems to work. As far as I can see, all of the current browsers need to import the bookmarks from a HTML file which I do not have.

Is there any way of converting my the bookmarks in my backup Favorites folder & all of it's sub-folders to an HTML file that a browser can import?

One way of working around this problem would be to create a new user profile on a spare PC or laptop and import / copy your favourites into the user profile folder, then import them into chrome. As chrome will sync bookmarks on different devices, you will be able to log into chrome on your new windows 10 install and all your bookmarks will be there. then open edge or IE and import them. A bit of faffing around, but having them backed up via chrome might be useful in the long term anyway.

Thanks for the suggestion. What I did in the end was to spend an hour or so opening every link in my old favourites folder & re-bookmarking them. It was tedious but at least I cleared out all of the dead links & I made sure that I backed up the newly created bookmarks to an HTML file.
