Installed Outlook 2003 on a new machine and I need to import my old contact data. I've burned my old outlook.pst file to a cd, but when I try to import, I get a message that I don't have authorization (or some such). As far as I know, I didn't secure the old file in any way. Why will Outlook 2003 not let me import the old data? Anybody know a way to get around this?

This is only a thought, and has happened to me! Send the file to your "My Documents" folder, and then see if it has the read only attribute set. This can be checked by right clicking on the file, and clicking on properties. If it is, uncheck the mark and try again. This happened to me once, when I was reformatting, and tried to reinstall my address book.

    Here's what I do.

    Copy outlook.pst, archive.pst, etc into
    C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
and open outlook, all info should be there.

let me know if it works.
