Improve my Dell Latitude D620

I'm one of the the unlucky owners of a Dell Latitude D620 school computer and i think it's a little slow for what i need, a buddy of me told me that it were possible to make some improvements with the right knowledge.
That buddy of mine is now studying in some town a bit far away now so i can't get the info about this things that i could do with it.
I've already clocked my old stationary computer, but i`m not good enough at this matter to know when to stop.
If someone could give me some handy info about this matter it would be great.

Genuine Intel(R) CPU
T2400 @ 1.83GHz
1.83 GHz, 0,99 GB RAM
Windows XP professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2.

Without knowing what it is that you're running software wise, I don't know exactly why it would be slower than what you need. Running XP SP2 with that processor and 1GB or RAM should be very zippy, unless you have a lot of software installed on the machine configured to auto-run at startup.
