improving audio

Any types of programs or software that would improve the sound quality on my pc?

I'm interested in improving the sound quality any tweaks through the system.

What kind of sound do you have? Onboard, or a soundcard? Have you tried different drivers for the sound? Sometimes the newest drivers are better, sometimes an older driver will work better.

In addition to installing the newest sound drivers available for your audio device, one of the most sure-fire ways to increase audio quality is to get a better speaker system. A friend of mine was running $12.00 speakers and thought his sound card was broken because they sounded so bad; no bass, real high pitched, all treble and very 'tinny' sounding (not 'tiny' as in small, but 'tinny' as in metallic). I said "dude, your speakers suck". He bought a $35 set of speakers, a cheap 2.1 system with a subwoofer and the difference was night and day! He has since dumped that and spent over $100 on a high end LogiTech system that rocks the casbah!!! Once he heard how different and how good it could sound through the cheap 2.1 system, he promptly bought a 5.1 surround set with his next paycheck... and he is using on-board sound. Many of the newer motherboards have on-board sound as good as (or better) than some sound cards; the on-board audio technology has been greatly improved upon in the past 3-4 years.

 

I agree, onboard sound is much better than having a buggy soundcard nowadays.

 

i have onaboard sound with the three speaker sub woofer.I was interested in what a sound card could possible do to my sound on the pc but i'm going for the less expensive route.
