I got a request to test my computer for compatibility with a new protocol, which I think is called IMv6 or something like this. Can anyone tell me what this might mean more concretely for me? Is this a replacement for http? Is it going to work with all browsers? Do I need to do anything?

Yes, ipv6. You're right. I read the Wiki article before I posted. I just didn't know why a test for whether my computer can use ipv6 would pop up on the screen and what I'm supposed to do about it? Is it something I need?

Generally no, not something you need currently.
